Have you ever sat down with yourself and explored the reality of your humanity? Have you ever taken a walk through the attic of your mind and explored its crevices? Do you ever halt in fear of the depth of the darkness you might discover? Don’t go there if you are not ready to face what you might find.

The depth of human depravity is synonymous to an ocean; we have only truly discovered 5% of it. That is a scary reality to come to terms with. While most of us conisder ourselves to be “good people”, we must face the truth of our flawed nature. “Why did I just do that?”, “Why did that thought just pop into my head? Even worse, why did I entertain it?”, “Why can’t I break free from these bad habits that I had the freedom to start but that same freedom is insufficient to help me stop?” This right here is the appeal of Christianity!

Think back to when you were a child living in your parents home. Did you ever blame your sibling for something you did knowing full well that they would get the punishment you deserved? You saw the disappointment in your parent’s eye directed towards them, you heard them tell the truth that they weren’t the perpetrator, you heard the tears and saw the pain they experienced from the punishment. Yet you still did not confess. Let’s face it, evil was expelled from the same womb we were. Even at young ages, we were all steeped in darkness. It is pretty scary world we live in knowing how each of us has these dark and depraved tendencies, with no single human we can absolutely count on.

What if man set the standard? What a dark world it would be if man set the standard for morality.

But what if there was some kind of pure light that existed? A light different from the rest of us; untouched and unstained. This light has no dark spots unlike the sun. What if I could get a hold of that light and have it hold on to me?
